Built upon Family and Friendships

Hoody Memorial was established in 2016 in memory of MSG Corey Hood, a Lakota Graduate and US Army Golden Knight, to give back to the community Hood loved so much. There are 3 Hoody Funds supported by Hoody Memorial:

  • Hoody Memorial Scholarship Fund – $7,500 Annual Scholarship to a Graduating Lakota Student
  • Hoody Memorial Lakota Athletics Fund – $7,500 Annual Grant to Support Lakota Athletics
  • Hoody Memorial Veteran’s & Active Service Member’s Fund – $7,500 Annual Grant to a Non-Profit Supporting Local Veterans and Service Members

The Selection Committee for each of these funds are comprised of Hood’s family and friends that grew up with him in West Chester, Ohio. Even though he traveled all over the world, Corey would always tell people how great West Chester is, he loved his hometown and school.

Celebrating the Life of Corey Hood

The Hoody Memorial Fund was established in 2016 in memory of Master Sergeant Corey Hood. The Hoody Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a Lakota student who possesses the same positive qualities that Hood exhibited throughout his life – a strong will, a desire to succeed, and “a little bit of grit.”

Hood was a proud Lakota West graduate who played football and wrestling. Both mentally and physically, he was a tough athlete with a lot of heart and energy. After graduating, Hood enlisted in the Army and reported to boot camp just months before 9/11/2001. Serving five tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan with the 82nd & 101st Airborne and the 25th Infantry Division, Hood earned numerous awards, including two Bronze Stars. He was selected to The US Army Golden Knights, the US Army’s elite parachute team, in 2014.

Hoody Memorial is Committed to Giving Back in Hood’s Name in Perpetuity:

Our goal is to raise funds that represent Corey’s special interests. We have already endowed and closed the Hoody Memorial Scholarship Fund with over $200,000 in the fund. We are now actively funding the Hoody Memorial Lakota Athletic Fund & Hoody Memorial Veteran’s & Active Service Member’s Fund. The goal is to have each of these fully funded by 2027. Once completed, we will be able to supply $7,500 grants from each of the funds indefinitely in Corey’s name.
